Choose a four-burner commercial gas stove with an oven base when the menu needs cooking below the hob; choose an open stand when the kitchen needs the hob and already has enough oven capacity. The base changes workflow, access and the installation brief.
Four burners can suit a focused café or restaurant menu, but burner count is only the start. Check how your pans fit together, how the chef moves through service and whether the oven would be used often enough to justify its space.
Oven base versus open stand: the practical difference
| Decision | Four burners with oven base | Four burners on open stand |
|---|---|---|
| Cooking below the hob | Adds an oven for suitable roasting, baking or finishing tasks. | Provides no oven beneath the burners. |
| How the base is used | Keep space for opening the oven and loading hot trays. | Use the supplied shelf within its rating and keep the area accessible. |
| Existing oven capacity | Useful when another oven is unavailable or the line needs a nearby oven. | Worth considering when a separate oven already covers the menu. |
| Cleaning and access | Includes the oven interior, racks, door and hob. | Includes the stand, shelf and hob; access varies with frame design. |
| Installation brief | Confirm the complete range’s requirements and oven-door clearance. | Confirm the cooktop-and-stand configuration and its service requirements. |
A static oven under a gas hob is not the same cooking system as a separate convection or combi oven. Check the heat pattern, usable tray arrangement and the results needed for the menu. Do not buy an oven base solely because it fits the same floor space.
Test the four-burner layout against your menu
List the pans used at the busiest moment: sauces, sauté pans, stockpots and any items that stay on the hob through service. Compare their actual diameters with the burner spacing and trivet layout. Four pots that fit individually may not work comfortably together.
Assess control at low heat as well as maximum output. A kitchen reducing small sauces has a different requirement from one heating large pans repeatedly. Burner design, cookware, controls and gas supply all affect the result; a single power figure does not describe the whole cooking experience.
If the menu needs a flat plate or chargrill as well as open burners, check the exact configuration. A range with a combined cooking surface can be wider than a four-open-burner model. Our Commercial Gas Cooktops & Oven Ranges buying guide covers the wider category.
Two LUUS four-burner formats to compare

LUUS RS-4B: four burners with static oven
An oven-base format to assess when the line needs an oven beneath the hob. Check the current oven drawing and your tray layout.

LUUS CS-4B: four-burner cooktop on stand
An open-stand format to assess when hob capacity is the priority. Check the supplied stand, shelf and final configuration.
These product links give you a useful like-for-like starting point for the base decision. Confirm the supplied revision, gas type and current specification with ICE Group before ordering. Product generations can differ, so compare the specification for the unit being supplied rather than mixing figures from older brochures.
Confirm the site before placing the order
- Gas type and supply: specify natural gas or LPG and have a licensed gasfitter confirm compatibility, supply capacity, connection and commissioning requirements.
- Extraction and clearances: have the installation team assess the selected appliance against the site, manufacturer’s instructions and applicable requirements. Do not assume a previous domestic or commercial stove establishes suitability.
- Oven access: allow for the door movement, loading hot trays and people passing through the aisle. Measure the delivery route as well as the final position.
- Cleaning and service: check removable components and access to the undertray, oven or shelf. Plan safe access for routine cleaning and maintenance.
Include installation, delivery and any required site work when comparing quotes. Ask which accessories are included, what support is available and which commissioning or registration steps apply to the chosen model.
Common buying questions
Does a four-burner gas stove always include an oven?
No. A four-burner model may be a cooktop on a stand, a benchtop unit or a range with an oven base. Check the complete configuration.
Can an oven-base stove replace my convection oven?
Only if its cooking characteristics and usable capacity suit the menu. A static oven and a fan-assisted convection oven are different systems; assess the intended dishes and tray arrangement.
Is an open stand useful in a small kitchen?
It can be useful when the kitchen already has sufficient oven capacity and can use the supplied shelf. Check the actual workflow and clearances rather than choosing on footprint alone.
Are natural-gas and LPG models interchangeable?
Do not assume interchangeability. Specify the site gas type and have the supplier and a licensed gasfitter confirm the correct appliance and any approved work required.
Are four burners enough for a café?
They may be, if the menu’s peak pan requirement fits the layout. Count the pans needed simultaneously and test their sizes against the hob before committing.
